"Clockwork Angel" is the first book in Cassandra Clare's Infernal Devices Trilogy. I always love to recomed this book to anyone who hasn't read the Mortal Instruments yet.
Why?
Because in my opinion their prequels are better than the originals. By the time this book was published, she already had more experience and it seems as if she felt more comfortable writing about this world, giving us a book funner book, that is better written, and with reference to the world we love. It also lets us see the world of the Shadowhunters from a new historical period, which gives you a better understanding of this world we are entering.
If you are going to read these books have to have something in mind: they are fantasy books and that means you have to sit and put effort to understand the world. You should also take into account that Clare has a tendency to write a paragraph on the point of view of a character and the next paragraph you are already in the mind of another character. At first this confused me a lot, but after about 20 pages and get used and your character will automatically change your mind.
Being completely honest, this is a book that I am always terrified to talk about a lot because I feel I'll end up revealing one of the many secrets that are in this book. So I'm going to do something a little different and I'm going to make a list of issues and my opinions:
Ω The characters are charismatic and interesting at the same time as all the characters of Clare.
Ω It is full of those sarcastic jokes and very good Clare.
Ω Good plot? definitely
Ω Easy to read? Meh ... takes time to get used to the world, but when it does indeed worthwhile.
Lee give this book: 5/5 stars
